2023 Influential Women in Business: Zelma Murray Frederick

Member Zelma Murrary Frederick (Baton Rouge) was profiled by the Baton Rouge Business Report on May 2, 2023. 2023 Influential Woman in Business Award winner, Zelma, discusses her approach as Managing Member of McGlinchey’s Baton Rouge office and the importance of relationship building.

“I don’t think I’m the smartest person in the room, or the most influential, but I am all about developing a relationship with someone and finding the solution together,” Frederick says. “In this role, I empower other people to find confidence—it’s a magical feeling.”

Moving forward, she says she’s trying to strategically grow the firm’s Baton Rouge team by recruiting attorneys whom she thinks would complement the firm’s culture and practices.

“People want to do more than just live to work,” she says. “People want to work to live and have a well-rounded life, and know that they’re doing something more than just a paycheck.”
