Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that Members Mark S. Edelman (Cleveland), Kelly Lipinski (Cleveland), Robert W. Savoie (Cleveland), and Jeffrey R. Seewald (Irvine) have been named as Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyers for 2024. Stand-out lawyers are recognized for their ability to improve client satisfaction, increase client advocacy, grow share of wallet, strengthen their firm’s brand, enhance people engagement, and increase profits per partner.
As part of Thomson Reuters’ Sharplegal study, more than 2,000 senior legal buyers around the world are asked to nominate up to three lawyers they have worked with within the last 12 months who have stood out to them above all the other lawyers they interact with.
Mark serves as Chair of the firm’s national financial institutions compliance practice group of 25 attorneys and 19 licensing professionals, where he leverages the team’s diverse experience and perspectives to support clients along the spectrum of regulatory compliance. Mark’s practice focuses on multistate regulatory compliance related to personal property financing, with a particular emphasis on motor vehicle financing and leasing. This work includes development of policies and procedures; licensing and examinations; business strategy; and risk management. He is a Fellow and former Member of the Board of Regents for the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers and is nationally ranked by Chambers USA in the area of Financial Services Regulation Consumer Finance Compliance.
Kelly advises clients throughout the United States on regulatory compliance matters involving the consumer financial industry. She counsels a full range of financial institutions including depository institutions and their affiliates, mortgage companies, sales finance companies, and lenders partnering with FinTech companies, with a special focus serving entities in the motor vehicle finance and private education lending industries. Kelly is nationally ranked by Chambers USA in the area of Financial Services Regulation Consumer Finance Compliance and was named a Notable Woman in Law by Crain’s Cleveland Business. Kelly serves as Managing Member of McGlinchey’s Cleveland office and is a member of the firm’s executive Policy Committee.
As head of McGlinchey’s FinTech practice, Robert helps financial technology companies and other financial institutions attain and maintain regulatory compliance with the ever-changing laws and rules governing consumer financial services so they can avoid pitfalls and expand operations. Before age 40, Robert achieved the considerable honor of being Chambers band-ranked in two practice areas nationwide (FinTech Legal: Payments & Lending and Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Finance Compliance) — making him one of only five U.S. lawyers nationally recognized in both areas. Robert’s status as a preeminent legal voice in this specialized industry is substantiated in the FinTech guide by his Band 1 ranking, the highest ranking available, which includes only six attorneys nationwide. Robert also serves on the firm’s executive Policy Committee.
Jeffrey is an experienced trial lawyer who represents banks, mortgage companies, credit card companies, and financial services entities in consumer finance litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. He has extensive experience with federal statutes and regulations pertaining to consumer financial services, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Regulation Z, Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), as well as state unfair trade practices laws.
