LGBTQ Attys And Staff Talk Inclusivity In Mid-Law

Andrew Albritton (New Orleans) was interviewed by Law360 Pulse on June 23, 2022, about inclusivity in the legal field, McGlinchey’s LGBTQ+ Resource Group, and his advice to law students.

“I knew [from that] that this was a firm that was open and accepting and encouraged people from all different backgrounds to be themselves,” he said. “I know that’s not the case everywhere.”

“When starting the job search, I think maybe I underestimated how important it is to find a firm that you feel affirmed and welcomed at,” Albritton said. “Once you start a career, you spend so much of your time at work, and it’s so important that you are able to feel comfortable and accepted — and not just accepted, but valued.”

Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

FTC Proposes Rule Prohibiting Employer Non-Compete Agreements

On January 5, the FTC followed up on President Biden’s July 9, 2021 Executive Order requesting a broad ban on employer non-compete agreements. The proposed rule, based on the proposition that such agreements violate the FTC Act as an unfair competition method, would constitute a total ban on nearly all non-compete agreements.
