“We are very excited to bring Adam on board,” said Mark Edelman, Chair of McGlinchey’s national Financial Institution’s Compliance practice group. “His deep knowledge in the payments and credit card space, and his strong relationships within the FinTech industry, particularly in the emerging field of open banking, will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”
Most recently serving as Assistant General Counsel and Executive Director of Technology, Digital & Innovation at Wells Fargo, Adam joins McGlinchey with fifteen years of experience spanning private practice and in-house work. As a leading voice in regulatory advocacy for open banking and data sharing, Adam has participated in every step of the CFPB’s 1033 rulemaking process over the last eight years.
“McGlinchey’s size and structure position the firm to support industry players who are innovating, developing new products, and creating value right now,” Adam said. “The firm’s client mix aligns nicely with my passion for consumer finance innovation, and the firm’s attorneys have deep relationships within the industry. I’ve also been fortunate to call a number of McGlinchey attorneys friends for years and I look forward to practicing with them.”
Advising participants across the financial services ecosystem, Adam’s practice supports banks of all sizes, non-bank lenders and bank partners, digital wallet providers, payments processors, and other companies offering innovative consumer financial management tools. Prior to going in-house, Adam spent almost a decade at small and large law firms helping credit card issuers achieve compliance with technical regulatory obligations, privacy laws, and the alphabet soup of regulatory requirements surrounding the delivery of consumer financial products and services.
“Growing our team here in DC to add an attorney with Adam’s background expands the suite of services we offer to financial institutions nationally from the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Megan Ben’Ary, Managing Member of the Washington office.
Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia, Adam earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. He holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park. He also serves as General Counsel of Women in Housing and Finance, a DC-based non-profit.
