Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that the firm has been ranked on Vault’s 2023 Best Law Firms for Diversity for Women list. The mid-size firm is accompanied on the list by several AmLaw 100 and 200 firms.
“In recent years, the firm has made a serious investment into diversity, equity, and inclusion improvements both here at McGlinchey and in the broader legal community,” said Eliska Plunkett, McGlinchey’s Chief Diversity Officer. “Recognitions like this are very meaningful, as they reinforce that what we’re doing is working and encourage us to continue our efforts in this area.”
Vault’s annual Best Law Firms for Diversity lists are derived from its Annual Associate Survey. The diversity rankings are based on reports that each firm’s associates provide on how the firm creates, maintains, and fosters a diverse workforce. The rankings include separate categories for racial and ethnic diversity, as well as diversity as it relates to women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities.
“Since its relaunch last year, Uplift has offered programming ranging from networking to guest speakers and internal knowledge-sharing workshops,” said Kim Israel, Co-Chair of McGlinchey’s Uplift women’s initiative. “We’re honored for the firm to be recognized and look forward to offering additional impactful programs for our women lawyers in the future.”
“In recent decades, we’ve seen a concerted effort among various organizations towards tracking and measuring metrics related to women practicing law, their compensation, career advancement, and leadership,” said Kristi Richard, Co-Chair of McGlinchey’s Uplift women’s initiative. “The Vault Survey’s rankings and the data it captures from practicing women attorneys are so valuable as we collectively endeavor to move the legal field forward toward inclusion and equity.”
McGlinchey is committed to fostering equity through diversity and inclusion in the firm and across the profession through various external and internal DE&I programs. In September 2021, the firm joined some 70 other law firms participating in the second iteration of the Midsize Mansfield Rule, which sets rigorous standards to boost diversity in leadership for firms. McGlinchey also prides itself on its involvement with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) since the organization’s founding in 2009. The firm is a 2022 recipient of LCLD’s highest honor, the Compass Award, for the third year, and has been named a “Top Performer,” a designation reserved for the most active LCLD member corporations and law firms, every year since 2018.
Within the firm, McGlinchey relaunched its Uplift McGlinchey Women’s Initiative in 2021. The affinity group aims to be a home for McGlinchey’s women attorneys to convene, engage, empower, and advocate for each other in their work, in leadership, in their communities, across the legal profession, and in industries the firm serves. Today, the firm is proud to report that 50% of Office Managing Members across its 17 offices and 40% of its executive Policy Committee are women.
