McGlinchey’s Daniel Shortt Instructs Cannabis Law at University of Washington School of Law
Read Time: 1 minMcGlinchey is pleased to announce that Daniel Shortt, an attorney in our Seattle office, was an Affiliate Instructor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law for the Spring 2024 semester. Alongside co-instructor Karen Boxx, Daniel taught the Cannabis Law Seminar. This seminar introduces students to the federal and state laws governing medical and recreational cannabis. Daniel took the inaugural class as a law student and has guest lectured every year since 2016.
Daniel is a regulatory and corporate attorney with experience in the hemp and marijuana industries. He advises federal agencies, top-tier cannabis corporations, and ambitious entrepreneurs on entering, succeeding in, and exiting the industry. Daniel provides highly tailored advice on heavily regulated topics, including contracts, regulatory guidance, administrative advice, employment issues, real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general legal counsel.
Frequently speaking on legal issues relating to cannabis across the country and abroad, Daniel is quoted on cannabis law in publications including Marijuana Moment, Hemp Industry Daily, The Washington Post, and Bloomberg, to name a few. As a founding member of the Washington State Bar Association’s cannabis law section and as a prolific writer on national and state-specific cannabis topics, Daniel has been instrumental in helping to shape the legal landscape of the industry.
