McGlinchey’s Douglas Charnas Inducted into Society of Benchers Hall of Fame
Read Time: 1 minMcGlinchey is pleased to announce that Douglas Charnas, a Member (partner) in its Washington, DC office, was one of 13 inducted into Case Western Reserve University School of Law’s 2023 Society of Benchers – the law school’s Hall of Fame.
Every year, Case Western Reserve University School of Law honors the achievements of distinguished alumni, faculty, and prominent members of the legal community by inducting new members to the Society of Benchers. Established in 1962, the Society of Benchers inducts new members on the basis of extraordinary achievement and dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession, as voted on by their peers.
Douglas, a native Clevelander, is a prominent and nationally known corporate and tax attorney with more than 39 years of experience counseling clients at the highest level. Early in his career, he joined the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in its national office, and for more than 30 years, Douglas has taught at Georgetown Law School in its LL.M. tax program. For many years he has been the Secretary/Treasurer of the J. Edgar Murdock Inn of Court at the United States Tax Court, the only Inn of Court dedicated to tax issues. Douglas has been named among The Best Lawyers in America® (Tax Law), ranked as a Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent Attorney, recognized by Chambers USA for Tax Law, and honored with the Georgetown University Vicennial Medal.
Outside the legal realm, Douglas sits on the board of directors of a local science and arts foundation and runs the European-American Cultural Foundation, which he formed at the request of, and in conjunction with, the Delegation of the European Union to the United States.
