Review and Outlook: Legal and Compliance Developments
Read Time: 1 minKelly Lipinski (Cleveland) joined a distinguished group of industry professionals to discuss legal and compliance developments in the education finance industry on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the National Council of Higher Education Resources (NCHER) “Year-In-Review of 2020 and Outlook for 2021.”
The panel discussed important legal and compliance developments that took place over the last 12 months involving the COVID-19 pandemic, bankruptcy discharge, privacy, true lender, student loan servicing, and debt collection. They also examined current and anticipated supervisory and enforcement actions by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and whether the President of the United States has the legal authority to cancel student loans.
