There is no ‘typical day’ in my practice. Some days I get an early morning call from a chief executive, an elected official, or HR director seeking counsel on an issue that needed to be resolved an hour ago. On other days, I'm dealing with a contract dispute, a job-site accident, or defending my clients in a civil litigation suit in federal court. Whenever I can resolve a dispute in my client’s favor, help them navigate a particularly challenging issue, or eliminate an obstacle, it is an opportunity to improve their lives. That’s what makes my work so exciting.
For Courtney T. Joiner, practicing law is more than a profession. It’s a passion which provides a daily Rubik’s Cube presenting both stimulating challenges and endless opportunities to make a difference for his clients which range from school boards, municipalities, and government entities to private corporations and others. Courtney, who previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, prides himself on his unique approach to solving clients’ issues. He combines a rational and analytical approach with a rich understanding of underlying legal principles and a level of responsiveness that his clients appreciate. The result: dependable, trustworthy counsel, rooted in relevant experience and tailored to the circumstances at hand.
Courtney currently practices in the areas of labor and employment, education law, and complex civil litigation. He has worked on a variety of significant cases including a case which required the Louisiana Supreme Court to clarify the scope of the school immunity law. An innovative strategist, Courtney brings a rational and analytical approach to each client representation. Clients depend on his composure and tenacity under pressure – in the courtroom and at the negotiating table – to resolve their legal challenges promptly and favorably. They know he’ll do whatever it takes to achieve victory for them, as he did in a multi-million dollar Federal court case, completely modifying his trial strategy to respond to the courtroom tactics of opposing counsel.
