Jay O’Brien is an experienced trial lawyer who advises clients in high-stakes litigation throughout the Gulf South.
Jay graduated from West Point, the nation’s premier leadership school, and has applied the principles he learned there to create high-performance teams that are successful in a wide range of complex bet-the-company litigation. Jay has achieved defense verdicts in class actions, mass actions, and cases where plaintiffs are seeking billions of dollars in damages. He has litigated numerous cases involving bank lending practices, promissory notes, personal and corporate guarantees, and commercial and residential real estate development.
In addition to his extensive trial experience, Jay is a recognized authority in appellate law, having participated in more than 100 appellate matters over the past ten years. With extensive experience in secured lending, Jay teaches as an adjunct professor at the Paul S. Hebert Law School at LSU in the area of Security Devices, covering mortgages and various forms of secured lending.
