Julia Berry Lopez brings a broad knowledge base and outstanding writing and research skills to her practice. She supports financial institutions in remaining compliant with the varying regulatory regimes under which they operate. Julia has worked with clients ranging from mortgage, manufactured housing, auto, and student lenders, as well as FinTechs, sales finance companies, and other direct and indirect lenders.
Julia’s diverse career background and path to the law provide her with a distinct vantage point on her clients’ legal issues. Her previous paralegal experience handling closings as a realtor affords her a global understanding of the real estate life cycle. As a former freelance journalist and editor managing a team of writers, Julia excels at crafting effective communications for legal and business audiences.
Working as a legal intern for the Honorable Mae A. D’Agostino of the U.S. Northern District of New York, Julia drafted civil judicial opinions and conducted legal research in Section 1983 cases, failure-to-prosecute issues, CERCLA, and more. Through observing many judicial proceedings, she gained valuable insight into the bench’s perspective.
As a law student intern at the Community Economic Development Clinic at New York’s Albany Law School, Julia worked on a variety of client matters, including entity formation, local hiring policies, and federal income tax and property tax exemption applications. She also conducted legal research on breach-of-contract and other topics.
