My experience in the mortgage industry, both as banker and counsel, give me a unique perspective on my clients’ problems. I enjoy getting into the facts of each case while also keeping an eye toward efficient resolution to reach the best possible outcome for each matter.
Justin Sauls represents banks, mortgage lenders, and other financial service providers in complex consumer credit disputes and mortgage banking compliance issues at the federal and state levels. Having spent a decade as a mortgage loan originator before transitioning to the law and practicing as both in-house and outside counsel for 10 years, Justin offers a comprehensive understanding of real estate finance that few can match.
With particular knowledge and experience litigating claims brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Justin is particularly proud of his 2021 recognition by a publicly-traded corporate client for having the most zero-dollar dismissals at his firm over a 12-month period. Justin is equally comfortable with negotiation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to achieve early resolution as he is with conducting comprehensive discovery needed to brief and argue cases for dismissal via dispositive motion. In fact, his motions have resulted in positive case law on which his national clients now rely.
Armed with a deep understanding of the mortgage industry, Justin enjoys the challenge of taking a fact finder’s initial opinion on a given issue and dissecting that issue to turn that opinion upside-down. He also leverages a familiarity with his institutional clients’ people, processes, and strategic goals to carefully carve a path toward the optimal resolution of each case. Even in the midst of aggressive litigation, Justin prides himself on maintaining positive, productive relationships with members of the plaintiff’s bar. He’s not afraid to pick up the phone to attempt resolution, simultaneously thinking three steps ahead to remain meticulously prepared for strategy adjustments on the client’s part.
