Paul provides regulatory and compliance counsel to financial service companies including banks, finance companies, mortgage companies, and online lenders concerning consumer loan documentation, e-commerce, underwriting, licensing, state and federal regulatory examinations and investigations, acquisitions and divestitures, warehouse and other commercial financing, insurance, and structured finance. Specifically, he advises clients on compliance with the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA).
While in law school, Paul worked as a Summer Associate and Law Clerk for McGlinchey Stafford. He gained experience as an Extern with the Hon. Donald C. Nugent in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and as a peer tutor for Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Paul also served as Chief Publications Editor for the Cleveland State Law Review, for which he was named Editor of the Year. He was also a member of the Cleveland-Marshall Moot Court Team.
